PRESS: Russian Railways may boost cargo shipment discount to 55%
MOSCOW, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways may get the right to provide an up to 55% discount for cargo deliveries within the tariff range, Vedomosti business daily reported on Monday.
In March 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich ordered the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to consider the step by until July, Vedomosti said. The initiative will cover second and third-class cargoes including oil, grain, fertilizers, containers and metals shipped to less 1,100 kilometers. Currently, a 50% discount for these types of cargos is effective.
A FAS representative said a higher discount may increase Russian Railway’s traffic, decrease prices for end users and allow the company to “react to the commodity market needs more flexibly.”
